About Me!
Hi! My name is Laura and I love reading. As a child I used to get in trouble because I stayed up too late reading under the covers with my flashlight! My intention is to read your work and communicate feedback empathetically and clearly, so that you can do your best work!
I’m not a professional writer or proofreader, but I am a friend that everyone asks to look over the resumes, cover letters, short stories, newsletters…you get the picture. Think of me as a test audience that is rooting for you and someone you can turn to after you’ve asked your friends to read your work one too many times.
My favorite book I’ve read in the last few years is The Gentleman in Moscow, by Amor Towles. I grew up on Anne of Green Gables, Trixie Belden. I also especially love historical non-fiction.
FAQ
1. How long does it take? 2-4 weeks, depending. I’ll let you know if there’s an exception to that. Expediting is also an option.
2. How will I pay? Venmo, paypal, or zelle, please!
3. What are you considering when you’re reading? For fiction, I’m asking: Do I care about the character? Does the character change from beginning to end? Are the stakes high/interesting enough?
For all genres, I’m considering readability, cohesiveness, structure, clarity, repetition in phrases,
4. What format should my document be? I prefer to work with Google docs, but let me know if that’s a problem.
5. I don’t see a plan that includes exactly what I need - can I make a specific request? Of course! Drop me an e-mail.
